  1. all my system warning lights came on

For anyone who gets this car jump started, be aware this could happen. I jumped mine and when I started driving, all the warnings started coming up one after another and cycling forever. This is probably because the car got confused during the jump, or during the low voltage of the battery prior...
  2. Any regrets getting a touring instead of a lower trim?

The LED headlights alone are worth it IMO. Wife got the car but every time I drive it I’m blown away at how amazing the headlights are and sad when I have to go back to my car. Feels like you can see 2X as much stuff on and around the road (not just brighter). I also like the heated leather...
  3. LED VS HID

I sprung extra for the Touring version (sedan) and after having owned the car for a year I can say hands down the LED headlights are my favorite thing about the car. They are just absolutely amazing, like no other lights I've ever experienced on any car. Not only are they super bright, but they...
  4. Rear window fogging over brake light

Mine also seems to be getting less (in other words better) after 1 year. It still happens but it's not so bad that I can't see at all out the rear window anymore as was the case when the car was new. Still annoying and a bad design though, and I hate to think of what the health effects of these...
  5. Cracked Windshield

I doubt it because in the Civic crash tests, the windshield held up quite well. In the offset test, the window had cracks (shattered in some spots), but the film held it all together, it doesn't look like any pieces broke free. And in the frontal test, remarkably the front windshield does not...
  6. Android or Apple

Civics now come with fire extinguishers for the Samsungs so you'll be good either way.
  7. 2017 Civic EX Hatchback In New Sonic Gray Pearl - First Dealership Photos

Cool so the primer is dry, that's going to look nice once the real paint goes on.
  8. Cracked Windshield

Windshield repair place here in CA told me none available, he called Honda and they gave him a 6 month estimate. Which is insane, hopefully it can't be that long. Fortunately mine is cracked but there's no hole in it so I guess I can continue to drive with it while I'm waiting.
  9. CVT Transmission popout/disengage after rough deceleration

I had something similar happen, but from a stop instead of while already up to speed. Stopped at a light in D, did not shift, nothing was touching the shifter, hit the accelerator and it just seems like it kicked into neutral even though it wasn't. Engine just spinning loudly with no...
  10. CVT S Gear

S mode keep the engine spinning ~1000 rpm higher than D, so yes, it will almost certainly use more gas. Then again, if you want S mode, then you probably want aggressive driving, which means you'd be using more gas in D as well putting your foot on the floor for acceleration. Probably somewhat...
  11. Rear window fogging over brake light

It wouldn't be such a problem if Honda didn't design the rear center brake light to be so damned annoying to clean around/under/behind. Try cleaning the Civic rear window with a bad back, it's not fun. And thanks to the poor material design of the rear deck, it's not optional.
  12. 2017 sedan

Hmm, interesting. So it looks like they totally redesigned the CRV dash to be almost identical to the Civic. Well anyway, I hope they add the additional buttons + knobs, and I would really like to see memory buttons for the power seats on the Touring, it's ridiculous they aren't there in the...
  13. 2017 sedan

Wait a minute, that's not a CRV dash...that's a Civic dash. It looks terrible and cheap the way they shoehorned it in there, but I guess it's possible. To me the fan up/down buttons would actually be more desirable than the volume knob.
  14. 2017 sedan

I very much doubt it, that change is not nearly as simple as it sounds and while many would prefer a volume knob, it's not strictly necessary. There are many considerations and potential problems with adding a knob, especially one tied into the infotainment computer. They might fix a few things...
  15. Official: 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Arrives This Fall w/ 1.5-Liter Turbo, 6-Speed MT, Apple Carplay

At least the black minimizes the negative impact of all the trim pieces. It makes it look a little cleaner.
  16. Official: 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Arrives This Fall w/ 1.5-Liter Turbo, 6-Speed MT, Apple Carplay

It's not the worst thing I've seen, but overall I was hoping for something else. The design just looks disjointed to me, like they bolted a new back onto an existing body, which is pretty much exactly what they did. It doesn't look cohesive, as if it were designed as one piece. Not taking the...
  17. Help! Can't decide on a color!

    1. Cosmic Blue - Looks really sharp, especially in Touring with the chrome door handles. But doesn't look nearly as good with 1-2 weeks of dust on it. You have to keep it somewhat clean. This is the one I got and I'm fairly happy with it. Takes on different characters in different...
  18. Is this the most exotic/sporty looking car for the price?

Yep, the new Miata is in a whole other class from the Civic (any version or trim) in terms of sportiness/sexiness, in a similar price range. Especially in red, damn that Mazda Soul Red is gorgeous. And I don't know what the MX-5 RF is going to cost, but wow. That's a crazy cool car that will...
  19. Rear window fogging over brake light

That's a great question. If it's not crazy expensive, it would totally be worth it. I'm not sure if there are regulations against owners replacing factory brake lights though.
  20. What do you do when Honda won't fix something under warranty?

Honda America not being aware of the problem has to be BS. Every single Touring has the same problem (at least for the first 6+ months of production), there is no way they're not aware of it. They're just not admitting it and are hoping it will blow over so they don't have to issue a fix. It's a...
