I don't park in a garage so I haven't had that problem, but at least your solution works great for you. Agreed that no matter what, it's so simple to just lock the doors with the button on the door handle.
What I HATE about the lock button, not really related to the topic at hand, is when I...
More like, beeps like it's having a nervous breakdown. I hate when I walk away from the car a bit too fast for the system to properly register and the car bleeps after me like a clingy partner. "Where are you going? Don't leave me!!!"
Relationship issues aside, I love the walk away feature...
Professional driver i ain't. I'm way too chicken to try to hit the apex during spirited driving for fear of curb rashing the wheels. I just like to double-clutch.

Anyone else with Keyless entry/Push Start have this issue?
The other week, we had a bit of a snowfall in the city. It was a light snowfall that gathered all over the car and in the door handle. Going for the door handle, I actually had to brush away the snow as it had lightly packed all the...
Not sure if this will help you out, but when I have bluetooth sync issues once in a while, I found that connecting the car via the USB and Android Auto seems to re-establish the bluetooth connection.
I'm not sure of the equipment levels, but I believe your EX has the touchscreen display audio...
