Welcome (I'm new here too). No, the car shown in Geneva is based on the 'facelift' 9th gen Euro hatch, already getting toward the end of it's product life. There has been some confusion in the press as to whether the US would get this version, but it's now clear the Honda are intending the first US Type-R to be based on an all new 10th gen design, of which we have yet to see any hint of. Perhaps the 'Honda Concept B' shown in China last year provides some hint of what a 10th gen Euro hatch could look like. If so, it has potential to be a terrific Type-R.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up! The refreshed 9th gen Type R hatch already looks fantastic. I'm glad that by the time it makes it to US shores it will have an even newer design. Will it be derived from the regular Civic concept shown recently?

First post! I'm newer to Civics so forgive the newbie question but has the 10th generation Type R been confirmed already to be the one shown in Geneva? I know I am probably in the minority but I was hoping for something other than a hatch and this concept blew my mind. :)
I believe it is bro. I would love to see this concept as the new civic coupe tho. I love hatches. :3

I love hatches too. To me it's the coolest model that the Civic comes in... I'm stoked that they're bringing the 5 door to the US for next gen! Best part is it won't be available just as a Type R. A hatchback Si really might be what I'm driving in 2 years.

Honda... Please build the coupe! If you want 5 doors buy a minivan.

CivicTR will not be in the US for a few years..

Only thing we get is the 1.5T version. This is confirmed.
You're not saying that the Type R gets just a 1.5T right?

Agree I want to see a Type R Coupe. Would be a great way to introduce the R into the US market where coupes outsell hatchbacks.

Have a look at our concept renderings for a Civic Type R coupe (front and rear views)!

The Type R has already been confirmed for U.S. shores. Will we see the typical 5-door hatchback body style or perhaps the addition of a coupe version?

We think our renderings make a great case for a stunning Type R coupe! What do you think?

I would love it if the Si looked like this! Although sadly awesome concepts have a really horrible habit of staying concepts, and not becoming reality...
