Let me preface this by saying that I love the car so far, but there have been a few things about it and the aftermarket that I wanted to get off my chest. This is a tongue and cheek post, so don't take it too seriously.

4. Why does the Si now feel like the ugly sister of the Honda line up... CTR this, CTR that... (still wish I could afford one, thanks Obama!)

The CTR is nice, but I prefer the Si. I like the mpg, and that it doesn't stand out quite as much as the R. The Is powerful enough for me. (And I could afford the R, and yes, thanks O'bama!)

#4 I'm not getting that impression. The Si has a pretty solid niche of being an affordable performance daily. Well worth the $2.5K premium over the EX-T. And a car you can take anywhere without having to worry too much about theft or vandalism. My only few gripes are the lack of LEDs and lack of drama from the exhaust.

#5 & 7: Give it another year. Lots of things in development. About the only thing we won't see anytime soon is coilovers.

#8 is far more complicated than most realize. It includes springs, dampers, and a new ADS control unit for the revised damping parameters. It's actually looks to be a pretty good setup for $1500. But it's all function - no form.

Solid information about #8. When explained in that manner as well as looking at the technical doc I can see where the higher cost would be associated.

Hmmm...I wonder if the new ADS unit adds the ability to dynamically adjust based on steering angle and throttle input...?

I am just glad it doesn't have that retarded wiper setup the 8th/9th gens have. I absolutely hated those on my 8th.

Let me preface this by saying that I love the car so far, but there have been a few things about it and the aftermarket that I wanted to get off my chest. This is a tongue and cheek post, so don't take it too seriously.

1. I find it frustrating that vendors keep selling VTA bypass valves for these cars with little to no care for longevity or quality. It is so pointless and that I almost find it predatory for a company to sell these to unsuspecting customer without a warning that the fast and furious days are no longer upon us.

2. Why doesn't the Si have a rev matching feature like the CTR? Seems like this could easily be adapted to the ecu calibrations with little to no effort... so why not.

3. Why haven't any aftermarket ECU tuners like Honda Data, Ktuner etc... approached rev matching on these cars. Seems like raising the boost and playing with the timing is pretty much all they are capable of at the moment.

4. Why does the Si now feel like the ugly sister of the Honda line up... CTR this, CTR that... (still wish I could afford one, thanks Obama!)

5. Why is is taking Magnaflow, Greddy, HKS and other exhaust makers so long to bend some pipes and give us a better sounding Si at a reasonable price. And No! Your muffler delete does not sound good despite the $80-$150 you spent at some random shop.

6. Since the Si is now more or less US built and the CTR is the golden child of the Honda stable, does this mean Japanese support is now a thing of the past?

7. Why aren't there more race proven tuners for the Si (save for PRL, thanks for your support guys keep preaching the Gospel)? VW has Cobb, GIAC, APR etc... Why no track or circuit, just seems like it's all quarter mile times.

8. Why does the HFP package feel like an afterthought and a price gouge? Shame on you Honda, no springs, but you softly roll out an upgrade to the adaptive suspension mode to the tune of $1600 wing wangs with barely any details. That being said, if you would like to slap a kit on my car for free, I'd be happy to drive it and retract all of this. =)

9. Window visors look absolutely horrendous! Stop saying they are a mod.

10. Why am I up so early typing on a forum about a car when I have a meeting to prep for? Fuck Powerball for not letting me win you!

On that note I hope you all have a great day and good start to your weekend.

11. No knob to adjust fan speed. You have to adjust via the display.

I saw a wop si coupe in a parking lot yesterday. Damn, even with the big vents it looked badass.

I would tend to agree. There is a horrible delay and UI in leaves a lot to be desired. A tactile interface should have been retain for the HVAC systems.
They give you tactile interface for this then everyone will complain aboht a volume knob. Then a tuning knob, they have to cut it somewhere it go back to lookig like an old car. I think they made the right decision.

Try using the automatic climate control, which does have a physical knob. No, you can’t adjust just the fan speed, or which vents are in use, but it works pretty well.

I was against the concept of automatic CC for a while, thinking I really cared about the specific controls. Now, having learned to trust it, I rarely feel the need to adjust them.

My only concern with CC is that it will authoritatively use the A/C compressor. That robs power and gas mileage. I have always been of the old school mentality of not using the compressor unless you absolutely need to.

Perhaps these few facts will help comfort you...

(1) Every vehicle I know of made in the last few decades has a WOT cutout on the A/C compressor (including our Civics). When you need the most power and floor the accelerator pedal, the A/C compressor shuts off.

(2) The Civic has a variable-displacement compressor that constantly adjusts to match demand. If the A/C is "on", yet very little cooling is required, the compressor's displacement is very low and it requires very little power to operate. It operates differently than "cycling" compressors that constantly cycle off and on at full power.

(3) This Summer when the system was left in AUTO mode to run the compressor at all times, I averaged 34 MPG. This Fall, I experimented for several weeks by not using the A/C compressor. My fuel economy average increased 6% to 36 MPG. However, it is likely this increase is due to the fact that I was aware I was performing a fuel economy test and subconsciously drove more efficiently during this time, so I can't say the increase was due to not using the A/C.

You can turn off the A/C and still use automatic climate control. I do this most of the time when the weather is cold, unless I need the A/C to reduce humidity levels and fogging of the windows.

I think @KTuner may be working on a kit to add the rev matching downshifts. They did mention in a thread that it was possible if the sensor was added from the Type R. Don't quote me on that though, haha
If they do this I will sell my hondata and buy a ktuner ASAP. I have been driving stick for years and do a decent job with rev matching, but I have driven cars which have the feature and it truly is butter smooth every fucking time. When I do it, it is butter smooth about half the time, and a little bit of torque adjustment between the revs shifting as the clurch engages the other half of the time.
