Hello,

I'm currently looking to buy a CTR, but I don't want to pay a nasty mark up. I want to continue my search until the right CTR comes along. Can you provide me with hints and advice on how to go about my search? Websites, tools? Techniques to talk to dealers?

I'm searching all over the country as I'm willing to travel to go get it and I'm in Florida if that helps in some way.

Thank you.

You could buy one in Canada or Europe and import it over for MSRP lol

Either pay ADM in U.S. or wait. You can easily get one at msrp in Canada, just not anytime soon.

Currently (Oct 2017), to get a CTR at MSRP you either have to get on a waiting list (current wait times seem to be about 12 months) or find a dealer (a) that has a CTR allocated but not yet shipped (no delivery ETA), (b) is not taking deposits or setting up a waiting list for the car, and (c) has sold their other CTRs at MSRP, and then call them on the day the car gets a delivery ETA (rumored to be the day it ships) and offer to buy the car and be willing to put down a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. The thing is I do not know if there are any dealers left like that because I don't know of there are any unshipped 2017 CTRs left. I suspect there are very few, if any, but the same strategy will probably work for 2018 CTRs, and pretty much every dealer should have a few of those coming up in the next 12 months.

OTOH, you should be able to get a CTR in your choice of color very quickly for $40k, or you might still be able to get @uncleben's CW for ~$36.5k

if ppl would stop buying CTR for $45k+ then the dealers would sell at MSRP. realistically, the dealer would lose $$$ by letting CTR sit on the lot in the long run. i'd say just wait it out...

Yeah for the price of a CTR+ the markups I can pay 1k more and order a 2018 Mustang GT exactly how I want it.

I bought my CTR today for 2k above sticker. They did load up on my trade though. So pretty damn close(with in 100’s) of MSRP. Love this car.

That’s a good technique...I’d like to do that next time.
Could you share some of the details of your trade in?

Honda at Fort Worth just emailed me saying they have two CTRs arriving in March/April selling for MSRP and are taking $2000 deposits for it.
