Got a question. With either a V1 or V2 ktuner, is there an option to enable/disable the tune using the econ button on the CVT? I saw the thread with Hondata for sport mode with the Si. Where you can enable/disable the feature by pushing the button. Just wondering if this type of functionality is possible with ktuner.
ECO mode does have the option of separate boost targets.

I have that eco button boost option on my Hondata. I still find it's more power than stock. When the car was stock, I can never hit full bars on the boost gauge. However, with Hondata tune and eco mode, I'm always full bars at WOT. I think eco mode boost is adjusted to what Honda claims as opposed to what we used to get in real world.

Is +6psi over stock still the maximum safe boost for the cvt? Any plans for a a 24 psi tune?

I don't want to give you wrong info but from my understanding you can get extra hp but you adjust the trq to be less. It's the trq that stresses the cvt from my understanding of a few different threads.

+6 psi over what? If you mean stock then you are only getting 18 psi which lol. you were bamboozled if you thought you were in the 21-22 psi range. And no, its not the maximum. Im a cvt running 25 psi and its fine. Im also custom tuned with and e85 blend. I also have a 22 psi tune on 93 octane. Ktuner tells you the boost the base map is running while Hondata give you the +3 or +6 pr +9 but you still dont even know what psi you are actually getting.

Would the LCD screen version have a screen that will show a boost gauge?

yes, you can have up to 10 different sensors displayed on your v2

I'm running Ktune. Im currently running the base 6 lbs tune. Was curious if Ktune had an official 9 psi tune as it wasn't listed when i reflashed my car a couple of weeks ago. Im using V1.

Stock max boost is 16psi right? I get there are variables in all of this but at some point you have to communicate instead of splitting hairs. Sorry if my 6psi over stock wording was wrong.

I was mainly just was curious on how the CVT was holding up to higher boost levels, i could always use a little more power lol. You answered my question though. 25psi is alot. Any guesses as to what kind of hp/tq thats making?

Also, thank you to the guys pushing the limits on these trannys so the rest of us dont have to.

One thing that's odd about the V2 Ktuner is that unless you have a high powered USB port (which I don't), it can be an issue. For $700, I want everything to work as it should.

WARNING: Power Requirements
The KTunerFlash V2 Touch is a high power device due to the LCD and LEDs. It is required to have a high power USB port when connected to the unit or it may restart due to brown out voltage thresholds. See details below.

  • The unit will brownout and reset if it is not receiving enough current to support 4.3 volts or higher.
  • If your KTunerFlash V2 is restarting itself after power on then your USB port is not delivering enough power to the unit in order to properly function.
  • The LCD display will power down if no ECU is detected. You're still able to complete other functions like setup LEDs, retrieve on board logs, and upload tune files to the unit.

the usb under under the headunit is 1.5amps. should be enough. Doesn't the unit get the power from the OBD port when using it in the car?

laptop/desktop will have enough too unless you got bunch of stuff connected to it

I only have an older desktop, not a laptop. When I connect my phone to charge it through my computer it says "warning: low power usb connection". Not sure how many volts I have.

And it does, but we're running an LCD and LEDs off of USB which can sometimes only handle pretty low current. Some laptops aren't designed for high powered devices, so there's your warning. We shut the display off when the software accesses the unit if it recognizes that it's on USB only, but there's only so much we can do and too many different laptops out there to say it works with every single low power port.

Stock advertised is 16.5 but they never hit that, maybe 13.5 max on a datalog. so when Hondata said +6 it was really only getting 19 when I thought I should be getting 22.5. I switched to Ktuner and ran the Starter 21 and immediately could tell I was getting more power in certain areas of the rpm band. Now with my custom tune with ethanol blend you are right, I am at 25 psi. Vit said you could reasonably expect 250/250 on the CVT with an ethanol blend tune. You can actually make more power with less boost on better fuel. I just have to get my IATs down to max out the power. My new intercooler should help and so should the fall temps. I feel like my CVT is holding up fine but i only have feel, I dont have visual proof

so I'm selling my V2... tonight I played with it because it could be gone soon. I tried the disable boost target dampening on the CVT and omg! I tried to be easy on the CVT so I rolled into it but damn it was wonderful, why why why???
