New guy chiming in here.

I've had the wiring for my knock sensor on my Jaguar F-TYPE chewed through and I live in SoCal. Rodent damage isn't covered under warranty.

Honda along with most other companies use soy based wiring. I guess that makes the wires tasty? LOL. But Honda also has rodent tape to deter rodents from chewing on wiring. Its supposedly made from some sort of chili pepper. When my Jaguar back from the dealer, I wrapped every exposed wiring harness with the Honda Rodent Tape.

I might have to get some of that rodent tape just in case. We haven't had many issues but a chipmunk chewed the wiring on a family members car causing a couple thousand dollars. They had to remove the heads to properly fix it.

Why would they? That's considered an act of god/nature. Manufacturers can't predict where you live when you buy a car and whether it is going to be garaged or left outside. There are too many variables to say "oh yeah, we'll pay for that whole wiring harness or (insert part here) because a rodent got into your car." I don't expect that Honda will be paying out on this regardless of them using soy coated wiring.
Why would they? because doing some searching this is an ongoing problem that they know about, Toyota also, yet they continue to use wires covered in rodent food to cut costs. from searching couple of dealerships have covered it. there are mice in all 50 states and can get into garages. they shouldn't be using this garbage. They know it is a problem because they sell the tape. they should be wrapping it at the factory.

So I notice my car has a smell to it. Next day i open my car and it has an unbearable smell of death. I tear the car apart, and under the spare tire is a mouse nest, made from what I assume is seat filling with a dead mouse. Wtf??? In 25 years of owning cars of alk brands I have never had a mouse in my car. Anyone else ha e this happen??

I went camping last weekend and left my civic parked for 2 days. When I left Sunday to go home I noticed there were mouse droppings all over the floor and inside the center console. There was also some "fluffy stuff" similar to what is in your picture but on the floor around the back seat. I detailed my car and plan on setting up some preventative measures such as putting cotton balls with oil of peppermint around the car (apparently rodents hate the smell of peppermint). This is supposed to be pretty protective at least for deterring them from the interior of the car.

The anti-rodent tape would also be a good idea for any exposed wires.

Good luck, hopefully it was just that one mouse.

Yeah, rodent damage is not covered by warranty. I've had multiple pack rats get in my engine bay over the years and screw stuff up. On my '10 Si they chewed the same bundle of wires 3 times and I had to have them spliced every time, costing up to $250. Also, finding rabbits hiding under your hood is always fun in the morning. Especially when they jump out at you like a jack in the box and sprint away the second you open the hood.

On my '16 Mustang I found a rabbit rotting in front of my engine in the bay. I don't know how it got there and I had to move some stuff to get it out. On my '99 EX sedan I found a roasted prairie dog that had apparently been chewing on the alternator and got zapped when I started the car. Some of the most disgusting smells ever.

For those of you that don't know what a pack rat is, here's a link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pack_rat They get pretty damn big too and the only way to stop them is to destroy their nests.
Does comprehensive auto insurance convert into play here?

Why would I want my rate to go up? Besides I don't think that kind of stuff is covered by insurance either even if you wanted to use it. Anything less than your deductible is not even worth contacting them.

Yeah but my deductible is $100 while the repairs from mouse damage that I have seen are between $1500-$2000

I would think so. Same but different...
Hit by a deer or eaten by a mouse

If I find this in my car the for sale sign is going up real quick, I won't put up with that.
