13000 across multiple countries for 2 years is still pretty limited. I'm not sure if they will or will not continue to sell them but they have already stated that they have no plans beyond 2018 model year. They really didn't put much into marketing this car, the people who knew about it are fans of the brand. I have talked to plenty of people who think the car looks cool but have no idea what it is. And using the Honda has been selling them in other countries thing has no bearing here. Other countries have a higher percentage of people who want manual performance oriented cars. America wants self driving cars, the markets are completely different. Nobody can be sure exactly what they are going to do until they announce it.
13,000 units worldwide by March 31st, 2018. What makes you think Honda will stop production of MY2018 on March 31st?

Of course owners want less production .. i would to. Its a lot cooler when you drive a car not everyone and their mom has and is proud of. Justify the adm they paid .. haha so many jealous crybabies on here.. its their money . They will forget about it in a few years when its paid off like any other owner.

Not saying the will stop just saying they haven't said anything past what they are producing until that point. They may continue or they may stop. People on here act as though they work for Honda corporate and know exactly what they are going to do. The people on here who want them to stop already own one. And the people who don't own one yet keep saying they are going to produce till they can't sell anymore but nobody actually knows other than Honda.

Why is there so much speculation about this.

Honda has been selling the R for decades in Japan and the UK but now that they released it to the US all of the sudden they are going to limit production or stop making them all together.

Doesn't anyone understand marketing?????

Honda will make and sell as many as they can, anywhere that they can.
Totally agree only thing honda behaviour toward the us market ( at least for me) was hard to understand

I highly doubt it. Honda went through the trouble of making the necessary changes to bring them to our market and now it's here there's really no reason to stop bringing it especially seeing that boats are bringing over regular Civic 5-doors from the same UK plant on a weekly/montly basis. In fact you can probably thank the Civic 5-door for the CTR being available here as Honda probably figured since they were exporting regular 5-doors from the UK to North America they may as well bring the CTR as well seeing it's really not costing them any more to add those to the shipments. I understand if you paid ADM on these cars you are probably sweating and hoping these cars become limited but that's not likely going to happen and you have to accept you paid more than you had to just to have the car earlier than others.

Did you miss all that debate about the "variations" that Honda's lead engineer discussed in multiple interviews?

No company can sell a model for 2 years and make any money on it. I figure this version will last 4-5 years. We'll get a base model and a true touring model and maybe even a mid-cycle facelift

I hope so. I hope honda limits the numbers as much as possible
You absolutely do not want this. Trust me, especially if you plan on keeping the car for the longterm. As someone with a "rare" sports car, it sucks. There is exceptionally limited aftermarket, lots or random parts are nearly impossible to find, and some stupid things are so ungodly expensive, you need to donate an organ to get it. My current car is 16 years old and I've thought about ditching it so that I can get something I don't have to worry about dumb shit like weatherstripping.

That was them saying they were looking into it they never came out and said for sure that they were actually doing it. I think a lot of people are just reading into things that aren't actually being said because they really want it to be true.

Only Honda will know and I doubt they do exactly at at the moment, plans are one thing in business and products, actually happening is another, but if Honda didn't exploit the Type R brand 15-20 years ago at the peak of the Tuner world, I would not see them do it now!

I wouldn't recommend buying anything based on scarcity, buy it because you like it and want to enjoy it!

Regardless if they build 3000 or 30000, this car is not an investment of true financial return.

I agree. I didn't buy this car to not enjoy it. In fact I took it autocrossing today because that's what this car excels at. After driving it at the limit today, driving on the street just doesn't seem as much fun. I actually do hope they build more because then I won't be so worried if something happens to the one I own now.
