I've had XPel clear bra installed on the full front clip of higher-dollar low sports cars at a cost of $2200 or more.
The Si has a higher stance than the sports cars and should be less prone to paint chips.
If they happen, I'll do touch-ups with a potential repaint of affected areas should it become necessary.

I'm waiting on my order to arrive of pre cut 3m stuff and will be installing myself. A little weekend project, requiring some time and lots of patiences lol. I have some experiences with vinyl wrapping.

I combined a partial Xpel front (fenders, ~20 inches of hood, full bumper, side mirrors, absolutely everything but the honeycomb), with ceramic tint all around for $1000 at a detail shop. I'm very happy with it and think it will be worth the cost over the next 10+ years I have the vehicle.

Is there not anything cheaper? Like way cheaper? I'm talking just the hood area. Since it would be clear, I wouldn't mind a lesser quality cover. As long as it blocks rocks.

I found a place here that does Xpel for 650 out the door. Entire front bumper, 3/4 of the hood around to the side panels and mirrors. Thought it was a really good price. 10 year warranty on Xpel and labor

Just had the Xpel put on mine. Ran me about an even $1k. Originally i was expecting only 3-4 inches of hood coverage, but it goes almost exactly half way up the hood! Also had headlights, side mirrors, full bumper and fenders. Pretty happy with it.

PPF is a worth while investment if you do a lot of highway driving, or if you have a severe case of OCD when it comes to your vehicles. However, if your car really don't see many miles then I don't know that it is worth the investment in having it applied. I will say it is the ultimate form of protection for your vehicles finish though. I would also recommend that you really take your time and pick the right installer. Just remember that quality comes with a price tag, so don't jump at the cheapest person out there. Especially when it comes to this type of work.

Very helpful. Highway is my main route to and from work putting a about 250-300 miles a week on the highway. You make a perfect point.

I did Xpel back in the day and have amassed 190K on it. By far the best investment I ever made. It does take considerable work to keep clean - especially around the edges. Back then it cost me $600 to do the front half, headlights, foglights, and mirrors.

I agree that it's highly dependent on miles and highway driving. The PPF has taken some pretty good hits at 70 mph+ from things like wood, rocks, and just about anything else you can imagine seeing on the road. With the exception of a 2x4 that hit me dead on, all the impacts have buffed out or been minimized with a little tech wax and some passion.

I heard the newer film is different with no need to shampoo or maintain like the older technology. Said just you normal wash maintains it. Question for the group though. Should I have my car wax or sealant prior to getting the film on it?

You don't want anything on the surface prior to having the film applied. Anything you put on they will likely take back off, or at least they should. Depending on the condition of your vehicle (yes I know it is new, but that don't mean much) they will likely still polish the areas that are going to be covered with the film. So to answer your question, don't waste you time putting something on it till you have the PPF applied.
