I bought a new G35 (predecessor of the Q50) in '08. 306 HP, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, high-revving VQ engine, sweet-sounding exhaust, terrific handling, beautiful design inside and out, REAR WHEEL DRIVE. I cross-shopped a TLX and 3-series as well and found the Infiniti offered the best bang for the buck. The Bose Studio on Wheels system with three 10" subwoofers (including one in each front door) was terrific. The 2014 Infinity Q50. Another 300plus horsepower absolute beauty, this one was the top o the line and with 29,000 on it same price as a bottom of the line Golf GTI. Bose 14 speaker sound, four or five drive selections - Eco (bah!), normal, sport, sport +, snow. Paddle shifters for the seven gear transmission. Awesome interior, another under 5 and a half second zero to 60 car. Hell yeah, me likey a lot!
So what I'm thinking now is... to Infinity and beyond!
My '17 Si reminds me a LOT of that G35 in the way it feels, rides, and handles. It's not quite as fast in a straight line and it certainly doesn't have the same level of luxury or RWD dynamics, but it's also $15,000 cheaper. As impressive as the G35 was (and would still be today), the Si is simply more fun - especially considering its manual transmission, better efficiency, and much lower price.
I'm not a Nissan fan, but the G35 was one of my favorite vehicles. I'd be sure to get a long Nissan warranty, though. It's too bad the Si doesn't fit you - it's such a bargain for what you get.
