Ap1 was known as Snap2000, because there really wasn't any warning when the car would just snap underneath you.

We are researching this hard. The rear subframe and suspension components, are they different from the FK7 hatch and FK8 hatch Type R ?

Since we cannot get a CTR yet, we are looking for product images.

The FK8 has a wider track, so maybe the rear suspension arms are longer?

I believe they are. You can confirm by looking up the part numbers on the parts diagrams.

I can't imagine why they decided to go orange marker lenses for the US then. There are tons of cars in the US that have clear lenses and orange bulbs stock, WRX for one and pretty much any car with marker lamps on the mirrors. Luckily it's a 10 min, $25 fix but it's still annoying.

The thing I'm most thankful for with my Sport hatch is the things that bug the shit out of me (orange lenses, cloth interior) are easy enough to resolve.
It's a DOT/NHTSA law here in the US that cars not only have a side marker at the front of the car next to the headlights or integrated into the headlight assembly, but that it must be amber and reflective. It's a regulation designed to make a car more visible from the side to cross traffic.

Very interesting review. It kind of reminds me of the change between the AP1 S2k with the F20 and the AP2 with the F22. People argued that the first generation was more involving to drive, and that the 2nd generation was softer and a little less exciting. And while that might be true when compared directly to each other, when looked at in a vacuum, the AP2 is a great drivers cars, and was overall a better car in general when compared to the AP1. The common saying is that the AP1 is the better S2000, the AP2 is the better car, and this might hold true again for the FK2 vs FK8.
Constant débat on the S2000 forums between the AP1 & AP2.

I don't agree that the AP1 is the better S2000 though. The only thing it really has going for it is the higher redline engine over the AP2. Heck, racers usually build the AP2 up as race cars for club racing here in the USA, not the AP1. The rear suspension geometry makes it a much faster and consistent car
Everyone has their own opinion on which is the better S2000, usually it's the version they own. Racers get whatever they can that's cheap, I personally have seen many more AP1's gutted, caged, and on the track. There were no changes in the "suspension geometry", only in the springs, dampers, and sway bars. The changes were done because so many drivers who came from FWD cars where crashing their S2000's because they were not familiar with a car that oversteers.

Honda changed the springrates of the AP1/AP2 many times, almost every production year. AP1 is more neutral, AP2 has more understeer (safer).
The spring rates where only changed a few times. MY2000-2003 were the same, MY2004-2006 were different for the AP2 update, then the CR had their own suspension setup with unique springs, dampers, and sway bars. AP1 had a livelier setup, easier for an experienced driver to rotate around the track, I wouldn't call it more neutral, actually I would call the AP2 more neutral since it had less oversteer and in no way would I say the AP2 had much understeer.

Ap1 was known as Snap2000, because there really wasn't any warning when the car would just snap underneath you.
For an inexperienced driver who didn't know what to do with a car that would oversteer, they would spin the car. Also, nobody is mentioning the AP1 tire setup. The Bridgestone S02's had so much grip and made very little noise that the breakaway was quick, I would say the tires were as much to blame for "snap oversteer" as the suspension. When the AP2 came out, Honda changed the tires to RE050's which had a more progressive breakaway at the limit.

Ok...enough. I'm glad I was wrong. :)[/QUOTE]

Neutral means chance of oversteer/understeer is 50/50.
AP2 has a more stable handling, because of less oversteer.
In general: oversteer = unstable. Understeer = uncontrollable.
So neutral is not the same as stable.
I am comparing the grip of the front/rear with control system theories. Controllability and Stability of control systems.
