**Updated**

After reading and watching all of the 17' Civic SI release information thus far, it begs the question, why short change the US market?

Canada receives the SI before the US.
Canada has more options/ standards available than the US version.

Canada Version
  • Spare tire
  • Back up camera - Sedan and Coupe
  • LED headlights
  • Navigation
  • Wireless charging - standard

USA Version - Missing:

All of the above

Back up camera - Sedan only... "That I've seen."
Spare tire - Not offered as an option on the main US site. Maybe through the dealership's site?

(Minus) Wireless charging - optional.

Production constraints?
Limited dealer allocation?
Would make it to too expensive for the US consumer?
Possibly offered in 18'?

The "niceties" are not necessarily deal breakers, but not offering the options, or providing the complete package is really kind of unfortunate.

Canada gets the Si first and also gets the better packages  even their Hatchback Sport is at an EX trim level! If we had the Sport EX model here in the US I probably would have already bought that over the Si for the extra utility.

Also USA Si has the backup camera just no Navi (which is totally fine with me since I will use Apple Car Play).

The US model does get the multi-angle backup camera (standard) and the spare tire (optional).

This has been addressed on multiple threads not so long ago - I would suggest the OP run a couple searches and update the first post... :p

Why the differences? Market preferences. In very simple terms, most Canadian buyers prefer more features while most US buyers prefer a lower price. The number of features is generally inversely proportional to the price of the vehicle. :)

All 2017 Civic trims have a backup camera as will all new cars weighing less than 10,000 lbs. by May 2018. About half of all new cars had them in 2014. Today, the vast majority of cars already have them.

Because Americans are cheap and shop Walmart and Chinese stuff often. And often times Americans moan, whine and bitch about not getting stuff first. And when we do it's not as nice as other markets. Willing to bet Canadians are willing to pay a little extra for the niceties more often. Also have to figure in they're in a less diverse climate mostly and their winters are worse. Whereas the American environment is more diverse. I'm willing to bet if Americans didn't want to first so often and actually pay MSRP and we're happy with OEM equipment more often instead of slamming their cars because racecar but can't give a better review on modified suspension than it handles better instead of specifics of what it does better we might actually get more of what we want. Look at how well equipped euro counterparts always are.

The cars are built in Ontario so makes sense... Also our dollar is lower. The options help make up the difference considering we will be paying 29k MSRP for a SI

Seriously, what is it with Honda doing a half *** job, on all MODELS especially in the U.S.

I'm watching RedLine's reviews (US Si Sedan) and I'm not pleased, then again it's not like I was waiting for it.

I feel even better I went for the Sport Touring Hatchback.

Honestly, I don't care about any of those options and still have no idea why people pay for Navigation when Google maps will always be better.

Whether you like it or not, why can't Honda just include it?

I guess I'm not all about HP/Performance that I want my TOYS too.

I just saw the Coupe Si review. WTF is with that rear spoiler. LOL Wow.

Built-in navigation doesn't require an Apple or Android smartphone, works in areas where there is no cell service, and continues to track the vehicle's position if you lose GPS/cell signal.

How are you tracking position with no GPS or signal?

It's called "dead reckoning". The GPS uses the vehicle's speed and yaw sensors to determine distance and direction to maintain the vehicle's location on the map until signal is restored.

And why would a phone connected to blueooth not be able to get that? I can get ALLL those readings from a bluetooth device in my ODB2 port.

You're reaching my point is why couldn't Honda included those "missing" features. Whether you use them or not.

I'm surprised, again that Canada got them. Usually we get screwed.

Oh, it could...in theory, but that's never been done as far as I know. The OBD II port is intended for diagnosis and repair, not for permanent or semi-permanent connection of consumer electronics devices.
