I know it's a new platform and nothing is out yet. But I'm going to bet the CTR will have some very good aftermarket support from companies all over the US. Just wondering if anyone has any plans and if so what they are? Maybe not right away, but eventually. I'm sure some are like me and just can't leave a car stock.

For me personally I will probably do :

Exhaust
18 inch wheels (if they fit)
Tires
Lowering of some kind

And take it to the track. Probably won't be able to compete with my NASA prepped car, but I want to see how the girl does!

I'm a modder by heart,

hondata/Ktuner (Vit Tuned?)
Tires - wheels
Air filter / intake tube replacement (I'd have to look more at this part... how is heat soak with it so close to the turbo?)
shifting reduction (hopefully a good brand is fast coming)
clutch when available
turbo downpipe (maybe just to midpipe.. we'll see)
Dipped!
replacement of all non LEDs, with LEDs
Tint

and that should be good for a while - things like oil is a given - Amsoil (as I run in my B16a) just lighter weight.

going to track it (as time allows) - only competition I'll do is friendly; or against myself.

Only thing I'm kind of not liking is the Type R runs such a high offset. I'm a big fan of concave wheels. I think a te37sl with a meaty tire would look amazing. But not sure if the fenders can clear them at all. Most concave wheels start at around 9.5 with a low 20 offset. So have to wait and see.

since this gen CTR is using the same exact engine from the last gen CTR, aftermarket parts should be plentiful as far as engine mods go

I'm not sure how I feel about the 20" wheels with 35 series tires. I'd like at least a 40/45 series tire and would also like to lower the wheel down to an 18" if it will clear the brakes. That should help shave some weight and also help rolling inertia (also want bronze wheels to go with the CW paint). lol. Guess we'll have to wait and see what sizes can fit and get the offset specs etc. I'm sure Rays will have that info soon after the CTR hits the streets. After that, I'll monitor all the tuner sites and see what they come out with that benefits the car for the better (hondata, downpipe etc).

Waiting for the stripped down 2018 R as it'll be a DD and not wanting to spend 35+k:

- dewing (rear spoiler)
- 18" wheels
- debadge (to avoid unneeded attention)
- tint
- already got a Flashpro

It's either the R or Model 3 in a couple of years.

just buy a SI then :p

edit :
really is a joke, but dewing and debadge - whats the point of buying a Type-R when you just remove the top 2 physically identifying features

Kinda have to agree. Pretty sure de-winging and de-badging won't help... a totally Fast & Furious/Rally race-looking Civic hatch with big-ass red brakes and a triple exhaust is going to get attention even without the huge wing :)

don't get me wrong, he can mod how he wants, and I'd support his choices. I just can't understand personally.

I'm working with ICBmotorsport on developing a custom spec Rays wheel for the CTR. Should be a few months out before we get a set from Rays.

As for my CTR mods:

-Aeroflow Dynamics Splitter and side skirt extensions.
My 17 civic hatchback was used for the development of those parts by Aeroflow, so my Type R will be used again for more parts development.

-Tinted windows

-18x9 custom spec Rays wheels, possible Ze40, CE28 or TE37

-Sticky tires, possibly Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S

-Flash ECU - hondata or ktuner

-Injen exhaust, air intake and intercooler.
My civic was also used for exhaust development for Injen, i'll gladly give them my type r to develop the exhaust.

I will definitely be starting with an intake and probably an exhaust as i fear it may just be a little too quiet for me. I know i'm not going to get that amazing induction noise as i had with my S2000 with a intake or even a lot of exhaust noise like i'm used to on my 370 with no cats, but i'm hoping I can improve it a little bit and still have it sound mean.
