Hi Guys,

Lease on my Accord Sport 6 MT will be up in October and I am debating on either keeping it for another year or step right into Civic (Si likely Coupe). Si is complete package for me with Sunroof, Push Start, Android Auto, heated non-leather seats, LED daylights, etc etc. Anyone else in the same boat?

Would love there hear from people down sizing!

More like "Si instead of Accord Sport" over here... :)
It's just too big and heavy, to my tastes.

But, I will be coming from 2004 TSX which was essentially the rebadged European Accord, at the time.

Here's the comparison I posted earlier/on another thread which I believe is relevant here, FWIW:

_________2004 TSX MT/navi___2017 Civic Si sedan
MSRP________ ~28,000_____________ ~25,000
Power__________200__________________205
Torque_________166__________________192
Weight_________3230_________________2906
MPG (comb.)___26___________________32
Passenger vol.__91 cu.ft._____________95.0 cu.ft. (EX-T)
Cargo vol.______ 13.0 cu.ft.___________15.1 cu.ft. (EX-T)

Plus the Si is shorter, wider, lower and has a smaller turning radius.
Plus, the obvious advantages like the LSD, dampers, Android Auto, likely better audio (10 speakers vs 8), all sorts of tech (mine doesn't even have Bluetooth or MP3 capability), etc., etc.

I think the only things my TSX has over the Si (at least on paper) are leather seats and a larger fuel tank. (And 180,000+ miles on the odometer.)
Someone added a couple of valid points I missed when comparing:
- TSX interior quality / finish is better
- TSX has a real handbrake!

Good points, but not nearly enough to stop me from buying this car...

Good luck to you!

Like dmitri I'd be coming from a TSX, 2G in my case, which is similar to the Accord Sport. I also want something smaller and lighter, so I won't even consider the Accord, which is too big to fit comfortably in my garage anyway.

I've compared the same specs as dmitri, and it's amazing how much better the Civic Si is, at least on paper. Smaller, lighter, yet more spacious and with more power and torque. (My TSX's turning radius is tighter though.) I'm concerned about road noise and steering feel, but otherwise it looks like the Si ticks almost all the boxes for me -- which crucially includes the "It's a Honda" box!

I'll wait until at least the second model year, by which time there might be a new Focus ST and WRX to consider, but I'd prefer to stick with Honda.

OP I'm more curious about YOUR experience with the 6-speed Accord. How did it feel to drive? Any of the "luxury" you think you'll miss with the Civic?

I'm torn between the Si and the Accord EX-L V6 (278 hp!!!), and since I can't find either one in stock anywhere for awhile, I just ask people like you lol. The Accord seems like a much nicer car to drive from a comfort standpoint - better trim, more luxury features, less road noise etc. But it's obviously way heavier and all, so I wonder if it feels "fun" to drive the way Civics & RSX's do.

The shifting on the V6 is unbelievable. And that J series is so smooth. I'm not sure it's super "sporty" but it is fun to drive. At least the 7th gen was. I think the newer ones are as well.

My gut says to wait a year and see what the 2019 Mid Model Refresh brings. The Accord Sport is quite good for what it is, despite the lack of features. Also, you might be paying a premium to get into the Si right now.

You really can't go wrong with either option. The Si will amplify the Accord's semi-sporty behavior. But you'll sacrifice some road noise and a touch of refinement if that matters to you.

I just realized one other thing I will probably miss from my TSX from time to time - the horn :)

The Accord Sport is well appointed for how much it costs. I picked it for the 6MT, Dual Exhaust and better seats than EX. Car really drives well and has plenty of low end power for spirited driving. On Highway it is pretty well mannered. I did get much lighter replacement wheels and it changed the over all dynamics of the car including breaking, suspension, handling and accelerating.

My main concern is turbo lag and low end power with the Si around town. I wonder if anyone as driven one yet. My lease is up in November and my buyout option is pretty low. I might keep the car for another year or two but I really want all the options Si has as a package. Namely Sunroof, Android Auto and Push Start. Oh mine also doesn't have 60/40 split in rear folding street.

I'm in a 2016 Accord LX - so I'm a few horsepower and smaller tires under the sport. I had a loaner 2016 civic touring for a few days that plastered a smile on my face every time I drove it. In town the turbo's zip came quicker than the accord's, and was much more eager, and of course the handling of the smaller, lighter car was superior. Braking feel was lighter, more responsive on the civic, since the Accord feels like it wants to take it easy when braking, if that makes sense. On the other hand, the one time somebody pulled out in front of me and I had to slam the brakes the Accord stopped without issue or drama... just the day to day feel of the brakes is easygoing. Honestly, the overall feel in town of the accord day to day is easy going - where the civic touring's feel was "hey hey come on come on let's go this is fun". Or something like that ;)

I didn't get much freeway time in the touring but from what I recall it was certainly capable, though 60-90 mph freeway speeds in a straight line are where the Accord excel's IMO. Tech level is clearly superior in the touring, of course. Comfort wise obviously the accord is notably roomier. Couldn't tell you about road noise cuz I had the civic's 450 watt stereo cranked most of the time.

Speaking of road noise - I wonder if Civics and the SI have active noise cancellation?

The more I read about the Si, the less excited I feel about buying it as a long-term car. I just don't think I'll be sold on the 1.5 motor. Compared with the V6 Accord motor, at least.

Even with 2.4L VS 1.5 T. I would suggest you drive the Sport SE and see how you like that!

You know what? Duh to me - didn't notice you were talking V6. Nevermind. I can only compare 2.4L to the civic. I haven't driven an Accord V6.

A few of us here have been enjoying our new Si for almost a week now. I've got 400 miles of both 80 MPH highway and stop-and-go driving in city traffic on mine. I have yet to want for more power.

There's significantly less torque below 2,000 RPM, but about the only time you're below that engine speed is when idling. 60 MPH cruising in 6th is above 2,000 RPM.

Part of the fun is being able to select the appropriate gear, to select the gear yourself, and feel that rush of power when the turbo spools up and starts force-feeding the engine after each release of the clutch pedal.

They do not. The only Honda models that currently include ANC are the Accord, CR-V, Pilot, Ridgeline, and Odyssey.
