I'm sorry sir, we are all out of Type R's until the 2018 model year. Could I interest you in a Civic Si? o_O
EXACTLY. You know they're going to try and cross-sell the heck out of what they've got.

I'm starting to be afraid so. I think I better not list my current daily just yet.
Yeah I've already begun searching for a backup car instead of the Type R... I've already begun to lose interest in the way this is being handled thus far.

Never had an issue getting an anniversary edition vehicle nor my Exige which was a fraction of numbers produced in 2006 compared to what the 2017 CTR will be.

I really feel like Honda is kind of messing up this release. The days leading up to Geneva and the days that followed were insane. You couldn't go but a few minutes of not refreshing the pages on this forum before you had some major catching up to do. It just seems that they should have rode that wave of excitement following the Geneva Motor show with an actual release date and started taking orders. I think the fact that we still don't have all the details is a bit ridiculous. We are at the point now where this tight lipped bs is getting old, and I feel like the hype is dying down. This thing better be as good as Honda is hyping it up to be, because if it isn't people are going to be extremely disappointed. They are setting themselves up for failure.

The hype is what this car is all about. Just like the new dodge demon. The type r is suppose to get millennial buyers into the dealership period.

All I've been doing is looking up mods for the backup car... I've begun to lose all interest in the rare unicorn (supposedly) that the CTR will be. I'm sure it's just the forum really building the hype of massive price hikes and availibilty but I'm going to wait till the NY show to decide. If for some reason the MSRP is to high and their demand can't be met I think I'm moving to something else.

Sucks. I still really wanted to finally own a true Type R.

Exactly this. The markup over MSRP is to keep the thing in the showroom to keep people coming in to buy Si's, Sports, and Sport Tourings (even though they're Automatic, people will buy them because of how cool the R is.)
So like everyone keeps saying, we'll see. Do dealers want to move them out and make the quick buck, or do they want to have it there in the showroom to let people drool but ultimately buy a lesser car?

The one sales guy I talked to said they know people were buying the S2000 from them and selling them on ebay the next day/week for $10k markup, and if that's happening with these, they'd rather keep that $10k for themselves.

It definitely sucks. The backup car to this is keeping my current car because the Tesla3 isn't out yet and the Tesla S is just a bit out of range...in pre-owned form.

There's one at $49 but it's only a 60.

Simillar to NSX. Exagerated excitement, markups, a car with it's own niche(few die hard fans, for the rest not many clients) that tries to be polivalent and does not stand out for smth in particular. Weak sales as a result.

The hype is what this car is all about. Just like the new dodge demon. The type r is suppose to get millennial buyers into the dealership period.
In Europe a close car in performance(FK2 type R) did not attract many buyers. I'm ready to bet that after the initial enthusiasm cools down and real package will get uncovered it will follow the same trend.
FK2 Type R had some notable quality issues on the transmission. Check the forums, several owners had issues getting in different gears(not managing, grinding noise). It looks like caused by the synchronizer rings. Problem was that it wasn't 100% reproducible and some dealers were not very cooperating(accepting to repair on warranty). Imagine paying for it and keeping the car more at the garage. Given that they likely use the same gearbox I prefer to wait and see how it goes.

I lost interest also for the moment. I won't even bother to go to the dealership until I see it on it's website.
I bet they won't come with new information in NY. The same things.
I suspect either:
- some issue with the car at last moment (as somebody around here said - but refused to detail it)
- holding on pricing policy due to Brexit. Now that they're getting out, I wonder how Honda prices will be affected in Europe.

Dig it. I tried to go in as HPJ's camera-guy-for-the-day but they shot me down. I was pretty up front with them as far as who I am and what I do... guess I should have said less!
Well, to be honest, they didn't give me a pass right away, I had to convince them.
