I'm picturing it almost like the HKS system with their "resonators". As the exhaust sits at idle the slower moving exhaust flows into the canisters causing them to silence the sound. Yet at WOT it flows out the fastest path which would be straight out. I've owned this exhaust and the two tones were dramatically different!

The CTR exhaust seems like this is the same basic method of slow traveling exhaust versus fast moving exhaust determining which pipes it will flow through. Cheaper than electronics and WAY less to fix when something ends up broken :)
Good post, I agree this is what they are trying to achieve, even though as Vtak pointed out, it's not exactly the same thing.

I wish we had better pictures of the full mufflers behind each tip, and what the inside of the "Tri Pipe" looks like. I would think the center exit would offer the least resistance for exhaust flow, but can't be 100% sure on that.

Newbie question:
I have a flashpro and thinking of another upgrade.Which one to buy first.Air intake or exhaust and which one?

Thanks!

That's a tough one: the intake will give better power gains, but the exhaust provides a deeper engine note at all RPMs and also great looks too. Then again, when you're on the throttle the intake produces a great sporty sound, and you also hear the turbo more.

Personally I would probably do the intake, but it's almost a toss up.

So who all was predicting that center exhaust was only used in Type R mode? Or had a valve that opened and closed? I recall some talking like that actually knew but turns out they didn't... can't wait to hear it!

HAHA you'll have to wait n see, let's just say that Spoon will certainly be supporting the new Civic Type R and also the 1.5 Turbo's !!

Please consider that the USA will receive the car before Japan - so don't go too crazy on local offerings before you see what comes out of Japan :)

We'll post any news on our Gaijin-Garage Facebook page and also on the FK8 Facebook Page as soon as it comes to hand :)

If only it can be done so that the centre tail is routed to a screamer.
