Same. Got my gti in 2015, sold it for my civic 14 months later -$3400. And the price on my ex-t was $20,900 so they didn't mess with the numbers to make the trade look better. I went through trucar for the price on the Civic and negotiated the trade in.

Since everyone is taking guesses at hp figures, I might as well throw out mine too: 215 hp

No matter what the final figure is, I'll be very excited to drive this new Si. I think it's going to be a well balanced, fun car that has broad appeal.

As far as resale value is concerned, you also have to consider about "forced sales" such as the car getting totaled in an accident, or stolen and not recovered. Not to mention unforeseen personal issues, possibly like a divorce, financial trouble, family (e.g., needing a mini-van), so on and so on.

You can't always hold onto a car even if you wanted to. The resale value comes into play. Just sayin.

Well the write up is talking about torque to get your groceries. Torque which is 192,, it will still probably have at least 220 HP.
What is going on with these new turbo engines? Every car that I have ever owned (minus the juke nismo, but that was due to the CVT) made more torque that HP when equipped with a turbo. My 2008 2.0T Passat had 200hp and 207lbs/ft. Is this something to do with the displacement of the engine? It's so strange to me...

Because turbo engines make a lot of torque vs a non turbo. The turbo gives you the torque in a nutshell, they set these new turbo motors up with small turbos to boost early and give torque where a all motor 4 cyl has a lot less.

Right, and in 90% of cases a turbo motor will make more torque than HP but we all know that the SI will have more than 192 HP so why such a low torque number is all I am wondering. I am actually having a hard time even thinking of a turbo that has less Torque than HP off the top of my head.

... because the Si will come out with a CVT (to allow for all the upgraded Honda Sense stuff) .. and they don't want to break that CVT with too much torque?

Wait, wait, wait.... Honda is going to release this car with a CVT? Where did you hear that? I haven't heard that anywhere.

I did not hear that. But the question here seems to be why is Honda limiting torque. I'm just offering a possible reason why ....

Has there been an official announcement that the new Si is manual transmission only?

I guess it is possible... honestly, someone needs to design a GREAT CVT that doesn't have all these "limits". One would think Nissan would be the best at the game since they have done it for the longest, but after having one, I have to say that Honda's is WAY better, if not the best right now available.

The 1.5T in the civic ex-t has 172hp/162 lb-ft torque. And the Sport hatchback has 184 hp/177 lb-ft tq.

One word: Rods.

Midrange torque can put the rods under a tremendous amount of stress. There are a few ways to extract extra power in the upper RPM which helps distribute the load more evenly across the cylinders. Tuners do it by increasing boost in the higher RPM. But it requires a larger or more efficient turbo to do right.

"Sport trim ups the pony count to 180 (premium fuel recommended). Opt for the six-speed manual transmission (which unfortunately removes the option for navigation), and you'll get 177 pound-feet of torque. CVT-equipped Civics are limited to 162 lb-ft."
