Ugh... negative equity! I was in that boat in 2003. Couple thousand left on a 99 Ford Escort I bought used, piston blew, $5K to swap the engine, not worth it. Rolled the negative equity into a 2003 Toyota Corolla. Paid the whole thing off in 2009, 4 years of debt-free driving, then totaled.

Ya when you have a 2014 Ford F150 and have only had it for a year and everyone is getting laid off you don't really want to have that big truck payment and gas bill. I pay $200 less a month now and maybe half of what I was spending on gas. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Wife surprised me one day by coming home with a new hatchback. It was more fun (and more comfortable) to drive than my 2012 Si. A week later my Si was traded in for a new EX sedan. Couldn't be happier!

Traded my 2012 civic for a 2016 lx last summer, negative equity but I was too over my head and excited for the new civic, then to realize I owe a little over 28k...gonna be keeping my lx for a while

I know you have your reasons..but damn this is stupid. Honestly. You have major balls.
He obviously has the money to be extravagant! Most people who already have a new car don't want or need the very latest. Money is needed for necessities like food and shelter!

Traded in my hyundai tucson for the civic hatchback, wanted something lower to the ground and more fun to drive. Picked it up last night and I couldn;t be happier
