In another thread, I mused that the Civic Si coupe might make an excellent convertible, which I frequently thought about the last generation Si. To me, the car's basic lines look like they'd translate well into that configuration. I think it would look great with the top down; the concern would be how it would look with the top up.

I know the market might not be huge, but globally they might sell enough to make it worthwhile. It could be an interesting competitor to Beetle and Mini convertibles, and might even steal a few sales from the Miata.

So, anybody else think this might be worth a go?

That's one thing I would change about mine. I think the coupe would make an awesome convertible.

As long as it has AWD with a CVT mated to the 2.0T.

No, it's a waste of time. FWD convertibles always fail... Look at the Buick Cascada and the VW Eos. Follow the money. Honda doesn't care if the 'lines' of the car look good or if they translate into convertible proportions. It's a half a year car on a platform that historically has not been viable. They will not do it, even over their CEOs dead body.

Well that's BS.

Mini Cooper, VW Beetle, etc.
Those are nameplates with 50+ years of history... They're exceptions and their popularity rides on their names alone. Those two cars right now are objectively inferior compared to other vehicles and only generate sales based on the goodwill of the name...

Thinking about it further, the convertible market is more about luxury than performance, so a Civic convertible would make more sense in an EX-L and/or Sport Touring trim with CVT and 6MT available. I think that could sell decently in some regions.
