The sales person wasn't even sure what I could do with the key hidden inside the key fob. I assume it would open the door in case the battery is dead in the key fob. But beyond that, could I start the car with it?

Did you read your owners manual at all?

The key will only open the door. You can't start the car with it. If your fob battery dies, you need to place the fob right against the start button for the car to detect the fob and allow you to start the car.

Thanks! The manual does mention that if the battery is low you can do that. If for some reason the battery goes completely dead, I wonder if it will still work?

Yes you can... You make sure your doors are locked then hold the loop button 5 seconds and it should start. Range is short though and doesn't tell you the status of the engine unlike Acura key fobs. I'm not gonna lie. All I'm seeing here is a bad question answered with an incorrect answer.

Why was it a bad question and what was wrong with the answer?

The key can put all your windows down or up. Turn it in the open position and hold it there for a few seconds to make all windows go down. Or in the lock position for all windows to close.

Uhmmm...If the salesman didn't even know what the hidden key would do, I would've asked for a different salesman. It's a back up key to open the door. I hope it was his first day on the job.

So, because my salesperson didn't know the answer, I'm not allowed to ask the question on this forum?

If I'm wasting your time with silly questions, feel free not to answer them.

If you can't open the trunk the key can be used to open the Trunk Release Cover to get to the release lever. It's on the rear deck behind the headrest. (Put a cloth over the key so you don't scratch the cover.) Granted this may never happen but it's good to know.

On CVT cars you can also use it to shift the transmission while the car is off. It's not really specific to the key, though, it's just the shape of the key. There's a little panel inside the center console you can remove to reveal a slot you can push the key, or something shaped like it, into and then move the transmission into whatever gear you want.
