Hahaha. Just got email also. This is after 3 sets of hoses you sent me!!! Are you going to repay our time and frustration for doing your R&D? I took this thing apart 6 or 7 times now with hoses and faulty screens. You sent me 3 sets of faulty hoses! I never was asked for a discount or anything to compensate me for my time and money.
Not good business. Not very happy here.
Would it be redundant to say DITTO? LOL. I'm somewhat offended by this late offer to fix. I put fuel injection hose on mine and the smell is gone. If you want to fix this for me send me a drain kit and we'll call it even...

Remember the drain kit probably uses the same hose for the CC it will smell again! So that's why I just bought my own 3/8 valve and Inj hose. You might have enough room under can to just put the valve directly on it and a cup under it when you drain eliminating another smelly hose situation. I have the valve and hose still sitting on my work bench because I am tired of working on this stupid thing.

I understand your frustration guys. We have identified that there was an issue with the hoses that we initially had in our inventory.
All of them have been pulled from stock and replaced with hoses that will fix the problem once and for all. I will send you PMs and have you taken care of. :drive:

For everyone else, if you are still having the fuel smell issue, please contact us by submitting a ticket through [email protected] or calling us directly at 1-877-466-4744. Our CS team will be able to help get you some new hoses.

I have not installed my catch can yet. Should I get new hoses from @Mishimoto before I install it? I purchased it quiet a while ago, just have not got around to installing it.

I realize it's like a 10min job... I am ashamed. :p

It's hard to know whether you have some in that batch or not as we don't serialize our hoses like we do with radiators/intercoolers, however, I don't want you to have to take a chance on it, so we'll put you in touch with CS for a replacement, PM coming your way. Thanks for reaching out!

Worked out just fine other than dropping the screwdriver in the engine bay lol..

Bracket length would be perfect if it was 1/4 inch longer for the location I used... Other than that, i guess we'll see if the hoses bleed odor like most have been saying..

I just changed the brass filter in my can to try and get rid of the rattling, and what do you know... The driver part of my umpteen-in-one screwdriver fell down behind the engine. All the way down past the axelrod, about even with where the exhaust line runs .
I had some mini disc-shaped neodymium magnets, taped them to the end of one of those reflective property-marking dowels, and was able to snag the driver and get it out. Whoever designs a catch net for that gap behind the engine would make BANK.

Hey. I wanna know who is going to take there time once again to see if their 'new' hoses sent by Mishimoto will actually work and not smell. Please let us know people if you did the new hose install. I am done working on it. They just sent an email stating they are sending me the 'new' hoses. I will keep them in a cabinet for now if my Barricade' Greenshield hoses fail then I will try the new Mishimoto ones. Seems as though the black ones I had in the past are made roughly the same. I got the black with orange center three times. All failed. Now my replacement ones they just sent say the same thing in my email! I'll confirm once I have in hand. So TommiTurbo let us know if you do the swap. I'm done being Guinnea Pig for them.

Oh here's one for ya.
My code for a discount from Mishimoto states this:

"This code will last you for a year and is applicable to anything on our site. It will not work on presale items or newly released items. Thanks for your patience, and let me know if you have anymore questions."

Are you kidding me? Thanks for my patience!! Really? It's been a year and a half with oily smells in my brand new car and working on this for hours and spending around $60 on fuel hoses and brass barbs. They have two items for my car one of which is this Catch Can! The other I'm not interested in at all. Plus since this is a new car it is most likely considered 'newly released' ! So this code I can surely tell them to ..... well you know what they can do with it.

Oh and he also states I can use that code for a drain kit!!!! Hahahahaha. Omg. A joke. So with that code for an overpriced valve I will save about $11.00 or so.

Good afternoon @Farcry1010,

On behalf of the team, I'd like to apologize for the issues you have had with our product and your disappointment on how it's being handled. If there is another solution you have in mind, please let me know. We want to be sure that we are doing everything we can to make our customers are happy.

Note that the discount not only applies to Civic parts, but it applies to any sort of apparel, decals or our Liquid Chill coolant products that we carry. With that being said, I do understand if there is nothing else that really suits your interest, either way, it's there for you!

We are grateful for your patience considering the fact that you decided to stick with our catch can this entire time, by not only in working with our CS team to get hoses sent out to you, but sourcing out a temporary fix yourself as well during that time. If either you or @TommiTurbo decide to try our replacement hoses, let us know how that goes and we will do our best to help in any way that we can.

I purchased a catch can a while ago and saw your posts on the hoses smelling so I was hesitant on installing it right away. I got in touch with Mishimoto and they are sending me their new batch of black hoses and once I receive them I'll be installing them into my hatchback. I do a lot of driving (around 120 miles a day) so if the smell does come from these hoses I'll be sure to post it. Just in case it does smell I have already bought the brass fittings and Barricade Greenshield hose from your post that supposedly have fixed your issue.

Yeah I bought Greenshield hose because TommiTurbo posted that originally he said he had good luck with it. So far so good with Greenshield for me as well. But I only have 50 miles on it so far. If it stays the way it is I'll leave it. I still need to install a valve I bought so I can drain easily into a cup.

@Mishimoto I just got a Catch Can in the mail the other day with RED hoses and like @Snoopyslr I don't want to install it until I am 100% POSITIVE there will be no fuel smell. I am not going to deal with that so I would love some replacement hoses to be sure otherwise I will probably just return it. Thank you for your replies to all of us here.

I had the black hoses, and I smelled fuel for months. I also had a rattling brass filter inside the can, but when I replaced that I also used an adjustable wrench to tighten the threaded hose connectors about as far as they would go (as the directions state, they DO NOT tighten flush with the can). Since that time, about two weeks ago, the smell has been much less. I'm not sure if there is any new contributions to the smell: Whenever I go by my workbench where I stored the factory hoses replaced by the Mishimoto ones in the box the catch can came in, I can smell that waste fuel/oil scent.... Once it is on something, it's going to smell almost forever. Could be that the lingering scent i get a lot less frequently and severely now is a result of whatever fumes escaped from the under-torqued threaded connectors and clung to other surfaces under the hood.
