I don't want the collision place to think I'm crazy when I take my car tomorrow so they can tell me if I should worry..... however!

Upon walking near my car on a sunny say, I noticed this weird, waxy-like substance, about 6 inches in length on the edge of my door (example picture attached of where I saw it). I freaked out and thought there was some sort of defect with the clear coat, nevertheless, I have no idea how strong clear coat is, or if it's even capable of failing in a car that's 2 months old, so keep that in mind.

I then took my finger nail, and tried to scrape it off. I noticed that it came off..... but the entire 6 inch space of where the stuff was it's slightly rougher than the rest of the door's edge. The rest of the door's edge is SMOOTH like a baby's bottom, until you get to that section.

I'm freaking out because this car is leased... and I don't want that little spot to rust out or something and cost me a million dollars in fines haha. So, what we're looking at is pretty much invisible to the naked eye now that I used my finger nail to scrape off.... but you can feel the difference. I also noticed that a very tiny microscopic amount of blue came out with it (my car is blue, so I'm freaking out!) I then kept telling myself that there is no way in hell a 60 day old car has this weird issue wrong with it? Am I losing my mind? I'm not sure what the collision place will tell me (it's a Toyota collision repair place) they buffed out a scratch on my old Prius for free when I bought it new, they're really helpful.

It seems that every car I get, (I've had three), weird stuff happens with the paint. The first car I bought had some sort of small defect under the clear coat on the section of the passenger door, probably from a rock LOL. Second car had a tiny piece of paint chip off the side of the door, probably due to a rock). I mean come on.

Even if this issue won't turn into anything on lease end, I still want this car to look brilliant because I love keeping my stuff ins perfection condition. I've had anxiety all week! Is this something I should be worrying about?

Please help! Lol

Hello there!! So the spot your referring to, i have on my car as well. Its actually from when the dealer had the door edge guard on it from hitting anything when opening it. The car came with it and they usually take that off a long with the plastic that covers the seats and all. I wouldnt worry too much about it rusting too as long as the metal isnt exposed. It shouldn't be. Hope this helps!

I can't quite tell from your picture but I had something similar by my fuel lid. I *believe* cars are shipped with some sort of tape on them to keep things like the fuel door from popping open during shipment. When I got the car, you could tell there was some adhesive still stuck to the car from where the tape was previously. It was easily removed with a good wash and a clay bar.

Any luck removing it? I have had adhesive on the driver side door edge since I bought the car in October. I've used clay bar on it and picked at it with my finger nail but I quit cuz I don't want to scratch the paint. Neither method was effective. Any recommendations? Thanks

After cleaning the area (either by washing, with a quick detailer, etc.) use an adhesive remover or something like Goo Gone on a microfiber towel to remove the adhesive residue from the door edge guard. Most auto parts stores should have some sort of adhesive remover - 3M Adhesive Remover comes in a spray can and works pretty good.
