At this point today, the supply chain is said to be ready for a 245.30.20 tire for an April launch. Will a 19" be available? I am not sure on that. What I DO KNOW is that a 20" fitment is 100% certain. I'm so confident with this that I am willing to bet money on it. :) The part number within Honda should be available in the near future.

I've said it in other threads. This car will be eating tires for breakfast. If you buy a car that is dubbed a 'race car for the road' that's putting 300+ hp through the front wheels, with suspension, a transmission, and aero that is built to keep the tires planted to the pavement, you should be prepared to spend some money on tires. It will be a high maintenance car. Hopefully that adds to the question...DD a CTR?

If it has 4 doors, it must be fully DD capable. While the wheel sizes have been getting out of hand, any 4 door civic that cannot perform daily duty is going to lose quite a sizeable rationale for buying it in the first place. I consider the CTR in the same category as STi/EVOs/RS, all of which have proven to be DD reliable.

My opinion (and this is that we don't know much about it at this point) is that the 4dr is more aerodynamic and this isn't and shouldn't be recognized as a 'Civic'. About the only thing Civic on this caR will be the badge.

It's got a comfort setting for the active suspension, so I expect it to be DD capable. Race car for the road; yes. Performance over comfort; yes. Would I personally DD this car if it was my only option; definitely. I have an Outback in the garage that I use for long hauls, etc, but I would still trade in my Accord for the CTR everyday & twice on Sunday, if it was my only car.

Not a chance in hell Im missing a chance to own this CTR, even if it eats tires & knocks a few fillings loose. Passing on an opportunity to own one would be a big mistake, IMO.

Not saying you're wrong, but 20" on this car is purely for aesthetic purposes. There are many benefits to running a smaller wheel. Just to name a few...

-Lower tire cost
-Lighter wheel weight
-More tire options

If you look at the prototype pictures, there's clearly enough room to clear 19" or possibly 18" wheels. I'd imagine that a smaller wheel will look unproportioned due to the large fenders.

At this time, there isn't a single tire option under the "extreme performance" category.

I'm with you 100% and will also own one and daily drive it on nice days.

Not disagreeing, partially.

-Purely aesthetic...not so much. In fact, I would say probably not at all. The car is designed with function in mind.
-Tire cost is a second thought.
-Lighter wheel weight is negligible. We are talking maybe 3 pounds in an Enkei MAT wheel, which is likely what the car will have. The added benefit of a smaller sidewall will outweigh the benefit of a lighter wheel.
-Agreed that there are many more tire options in 19" than 20". The difference is, like most OE tires, the tire is tuned to the car to manufacture specifications. Honda would prefer to sell a tire that is difficult to source outside of the dealership. ;)

That said, I would also likely buy 19" wheels for the R for daily driving duties, partially for points you've made. My point is, the car will come with a 20" wheel.

A stock Honda Civic, sold in the US, comes standard with a turbo, adaptive suspension & 20" wheels. Never thought I would live to see the day.

And enthusiasts curse Honda and swear they have lost their way.

Praise Honda & Halleluiah!

Low profile tires+potholes = recipe for disaster

I plan on getting those HFP wheels if there's no other option

Lived in metro Detroit (worked downtown) my entire life... knock on wood I've never lost a tire to a pothole! Shocking :D that's with various of sports cars and aftermarket rims...

Although owning a Nissan 350z was a target back in the day for racist cops handing out Japanese cars bs tickets... Lotus = Zero issues here lol

I'm getting excited for this release to the point where I'm being stupid and debating on seeing if a 2017 purchase is possible :p

Enthusiasts who played with Hondas in the late 90's, early 2000's are saying, "Welcome back, Honda! Where have you been?"

The enthusiasts from about 2002-2015 weren't playing with late model Hondas. They were playing with B and K series swapped mid-90's chassis.

But I agree...great times for Honda enthusiasts are very near.

And while I am by no means complaining and extremely happy to have the CTR coming, Honda will REALLY be back when we have a whole slew of options to choose from... S2000, Prelude, Integra, CRX, etc. But those days are long gone now.
