Dude definitely said 'the new civic is AWD'. Interesting. I don't believe it yet but interesting.

If this is true, I will take five of those. Maybe Honda testing CTR against Merc A45 (there were photos on the internet) learned something that made it happen.

The Subaru Levorg GT as with all Subarus is four-wheel drive in its road-going configuration, but with four-wheel drive banned under the BTCC’s technical regulations, the team have had to configure the car as a rear-wheel drive car, which Neal explains is an option that has opened up for Honda with the upcoming tenth-generation Civic model.

“The next Civic is a four-wheel drive car so we can do it. OK, it doesn’t have a boxer engine, but we can do what they’ve done and we would just have to go rear-wheel drive with them, that’s what (TOCA) have pushed the formula into,” explained Neal.

I was wondering what the UK leaving the EU and the British pound dropping so far would do for the hatches that are being built and shipped from the Swindon plant. Hopefully it doesn't jack up prices more in order to recoupe the lost value of the pound.

From the other thread, I'm not convinced that will come to fruition. Not when every "known" prototype is configured for FWD. From the link referenced above, the rear CHRA's are still open:

I am also not convinced since the factory driver said it is up to Honda if they wish to promote Type-R or AWD Civic, this would mean it is not the same car.

IMO they are playing with / testing both drive configs ... and they will have the SI sold in Europe also as the FWD perf version

I'm extremely disappointed. We saw the Type R at the LA auto show and at the Paris show. Yet for some reason it's not currently on display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. They have the Si concept there but no R... WHY?! Why would Honda have the Type R at all other events and not the flag ship auto show for North America. Crazy to me.

Poor rear seat passengers. They'll be slip sliding all over the place like a rag doll without any bolstering back there.

I dunno if you can see... but this configuration is for 4 passengers not 5. They middle row has cup holders. I didn't like that. I don't mind if its for 4 passengers but I didn't like the cup holders incrusted on the seats lol. However, this is the prototype.

picture #10 from top to bottom shows that a little bit.
