According to the source below the 2017 Civic Si will have 25% more torque and horsepower than the Civic touring.

http://www.torquenews.com/1574/hond...n-civic-si-prior-market-arrival#comment-55922

This source attended the official unveiling and under this headline site's Honda's Sage Marie.

Quick calculation puts it at about 215hp-220hp (217.5hp to be exact) and about 200ft-lb torque (202.5).

After seeing this car in other media at the unveil with better lighting I like the look and now that there is no getting past the 1.5T I think I can live with it having 215hp/200ft-lb of torque :)

If they can get to at least 215hp and with 200 lb-ft torque and 0-60 in 5.8 -6.0 secs I think that will be exceptional. Slower than 0-60mph in 6.3 secs I will pass.

I'd call it adequate for a sporty car, not exceptional. I'm also expecting it to be about a 5.8-6.2 second 0-60 time. I guess we will see. Now they just need to get it out to market by the end of March

Welcome Roddy. The statement is a prediction based on the power spread between the 9th generation base Civic and the Si variant output, 56 HP as I recall. Could be wrong but close. Here's my reasoning: The 1.5 Liter turbo produces 170 hp x .25% = 212.5 horsepower. Very doable.
Move along, folks.

It's just a numbers gain with figures like that. One thing to keep in mind is that our Civics are underreated in terms of power ratings right now, Hondata obtained 179 hp at the wheels which equates to almost 210 crank hp. Given that they run a smidge faster than the last generation Si that had 205 hp that all makes sense. There is no way that our Civics make 174 hp at the crank, with all of the empirical data at there, they run faster than what the power numbers indicate. Honda could easily find an extra 15-30 crank hp in this setup with some simple tuning, whatever they quote is just a guess right now. Hondata was able to find an extra 28 wheel hp (32 crank), so it isn't hard to obtain.

Got this from article author in the comments

The whole article is a click bait. They are just guessing.

It's foolish to base fwd performance on 0-60 times, as it's clearly not a true indicator of the cars real world quickness with the lack of traction it will have off the line and the fact that you won't be hard launching your car anyway. From 0-60 of course the Si will be slower than a wrx for example, but what about 20-80? And that's the speed range you are going to be using most on the daily for merging and passing and the like. And what about handling?

If you want straight line 0-60 performance at a great bang for your buck, you should probably look into a mustang.

Seems to me it would be more valid to speculate by taking 25% off the CTR's turbo's specs, than what the OP does, i.e. basing it on previous models' ratios.

Ha. That's cute.
Why? There aren't many brand new sub $30k cars that do 0-60 in the low 4's straight out of the box!

Now I do know there are some d-bags that passionately hate the mustang, just like there are equal and opposite d-bags that passionately hate the civic. But when these people grow up(if ever), they'll learn to open their minds more.

It will have 203-204hp, and 191-192tq. That's my guess.
A Honda rep said that it will be "the most powerful and quickest Si ever." He's clearly talking about the horsepower. The last iteration of 9th gen Si has 205hp. So, my guess is that it will be between 212-227 hp.

It's not getting a big horse power bump lol. Honda doesn't do that. It's the torque of the new motor and turbo that will make it the most powerful one yet. But who knows you could be right. Just basing it off their past. Numbers are starting to become increasingly meaningless. It's the power curves. It would have made more sense for him to say the new civic si is getting a big horse power increase. Civic's were known to have no torque at all. Honda is trying to change that by producing their newer cars with more torque. That's what puts you back in the seat. Thats what makes it feel fun.

Well, if the 2.0 CTR is making 306 HP and 295 lb-ft, then by simple proportion the Si could possibly be made to have 229.5 HP and 221.25 lb-ft

Of course, that relationship isn't linear/a straight-up proportion, plus the Si isn't supposed to be that radical, and fuel economy is more of a factor there, so there's that.

I'm expecting around 210/215 HP and close to/around 200 lb-ft

All pure speculation obviously -- but, we do have the actual numbers of what can be done with the 2.0 engine, so the 1.5 Si could be somewhat close to 75% of the CTR's specs... (at least in theory)
