For everyone saying they are disappointed with the Si and then inadvertently jumping into something that doesn't even compare, I.e. Golf R.... ridiculous. You shouldn't have even been looking at the Si to begin with.

Although you won't disappointed on your 2017 Golf R, I'm shocked your comparing a car that 99% of Civic Si owners can not afford or were not cross shopping.

Also your math with 4-1 Golf Rs to WRXs is very suspect. I would take 10-1 there are more WRXs in Winnipeg than Rs. Shit I had to drive across 4 states when I bought my Golf R. It's much more rare and limited production.

However I just sold my 2016 Golf R with APR stage 1 tune to get the Civic type R because I've always wanted one. I guess I have car ADD.

(PS throw some Blizzaks on the R and it is a tank in the snow and ice)
You are right about the R...it is a lot more money and a few classes above.

The reason I was considering an SI was to try and find that rsx type S magic again...the vtec kick in that car was a blast.

This all comes down to people not being able to handle change. The time of high revving NA engines is in the past. All manufactures not just Honda are going in the direction of smaller turbo engines.

I have yet to drive an SI that was as good as my 2002 RSX Type S and that was 14 years ago on a platform that was shared with future civics....this is why we can't settle
The RSX platform wasn't shared with future Civics, it was shared with the Civic at the time, the 2001-2005 generation. And it wasn't great, as admitted through Honda's about-face. First generation struts, compact rear wishbone suspension, high-mount steering rack - all of these things were tried for that platform and subsequently changed right back for the next generation, as they were found severely lacking. The all-new 2006 Civic platform had a better front strut design, better rear suspension setup, and a return to the low-mount steering rack.

The 8th gen Civic Si had a better engine, better steering, better suspension, stiffer platform. And it had one serious thing that was never offered on the RSX - apart from the DC5-R - a limited slip differential. When the 2006 Si came out, it made the (even updated and better 05-06) RSX look like a bad proposition. The RSX never took as well to modifications, and even the RealTime Racing team couldn't make it work well, despite all their experience with Honda/Acura products, which is why they switched to the TSX after just one year. (They continued to race the RSX alongside it, but it was the TSX that won them 3 championships.)

You may have enjoyed your RSX - as many did - and that's fine. I love the RSX, flaws be damned. But to say Honda hasn't made an Si as good as the RSX is just bias and nothing more.

Yawn!
Golf R is a $40K+ here in Canada. That buys a shit ton of Mustang GT which is an absolute bargain per dollar if youre talking about performance.

The RSX was a turd compared the the 07+ Civic Si.

Yeah I looked at the Mustang GT. Not for me. My brother has a GT350 already too so I was well versed with the car. The Golf R is the best deal going in Canada and I would argue its way more car for the money than the Mustang, even performance wise! The mustang will never be able to put the power down on our cold Canada streets.

If you really want to slay some giants get an APR stage 1 tune, the car is a beast.

You won't be disappointed.

I'm jealous of your brother I really wanted a GT350 but it would seem to be a tad out of my price range. Maybe if I lived somewhere warm and could daily drive it I will get one.

Does you brother live in Canada? I'm guessing it isn't his daily?

Oh ya we are both in Canada. Nope not a daily. Just a summer car.

Yes I am thinking either APR or Unitronic for tuning. My car will eventually have intake, DP, intercooler, 93oct tune. I only have 1300kms so I want at least 10-20k kms before I start modding. Cant wait to run low 12s in the 1/4 mile though when im done :) But as for now the car has an ok amount of power, could use more for sure though.
Trying to sell my 8th Gen Civic Si still too lol. Economy is in rough shape right now, no one wants to buy.
